TfL consults on requiring electric vehicles for new ride-hailing licences from 2028
Transport for London has opened a consultation on stricter licensing rules for ride-hailing services. The proposal would require newly licensed vehicles to be fully electric from 2028, with a later deadline for wheelchair-accessible vehicles, if adopted.
Transport for London (TfL) has launched a consultation on stricter licensing rules for ride-hailing services such as Uber.
Under the proposal, all newly licensed vehicles would need to be fully electric from 2028.
Wheelchair-accessible vehicles would have a transition period until July 2030.
TfL is considering the changes as part of its licensing rules, but the proposal is still under consultation.
