BHP and Rio Tinto say they have completed the first megawatt-scale charge on one of the Cat 793 XE battery-electric haul trucks they are testing at Jimblebar in Western Australia.
BHP and Rio Tinto say they have successfully completed the first “megawatt scale” charge, described as more than 1 MW of power, into one of the two Cat 793 XE Early Learner battery-electric haul trucks they are jointly evaluating.
The truck is being tested at BHP’s Jimblebar iron ore mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara.
The companies said the charge was completed safely.
