Ford says it has cast more than 5,000 unicastings for the Fathom electric pickup
Ford has produced more than 5,000 large aluminum unicastings for its upcoming Fathom midsize electric pickup. The work suggests the company is refining the manufacturing process ahead of the truck’s expected 2027 launch.
Ford says it has now produced more than 5,000 large aluminum “unicastings” for the Fathom, its upcoming midsize electric pickup.
According to the source, each truck will use two unicastings, one at the front and one at the rear, replacing 146 individual parts.
The report says this is part of Ford’s effort to fine-tune the process ahead of the model’s planned 2027 launch. It describes the move as a shift toward a manufacturing approach associated with Tesla’s Giga Press.
