Germany’s battery-electric car share reached a record 37% in October
Battery-electric cars accounted for a record share of Germany’s new car market in October, according to the KBA. The result means fully electric registrations again exceeded gasoline and diesel cars combined, underscoring continued growth in the market.
Battery-electric cars took 37% of Germany’s new car market in October, according to data released by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA), the country’s federal motor vehicle authority.
The KBA said 94,086 battery-electric cars were registered in the month, up 79.5% from 52,425 a year earlier.
For the second month in a row, German buyers registered more fully electric cars than gasoline and diesel cars combined. The source also says Germany has already passed the auto industry’s EV forecast for all of 2026, with two months still left in the year.
