Mercedes-Benz has started assembling the electric GLC from imported knocked-down kits at its Chakan plant near Pune. The move adds a second assembly site for the model and expands its production footprint to four sites worldwide.
Mercedes-Benz has begun assembling the electric GLC at its plant in Chakan, near Pune in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The vehicles are being assembled from imported knocked-down kits.
Chakan is the second site to assemble the new EV from kits, after Thailand’s Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP).
According to the source, the Indian plant is the model’s fourth production site worldwide.
