ROHM says its SiC MOSFETs are used in BMW’s Neue Klasse electric powertrain
ROHM Semiconductor said its SiC MOSFETs are being used in the electric powertrain of BMW’s Neue Klasse, the automaker’s Gen 6 EV platform. The disclosure matters because it points to a supply-chain role in BMW’s next-generation electric drive system, although ROHM did not identify the device family, voltage class or Tier 1 supplier.
ROHM Semiconductor said its SiC MOSFETs are being used in the electric powertrain of BMW’s Neue Klasse. Neue Klasse is BMW’s Gen 6 platform for its electric vehicles.
ROHM did not name the device family or the voltage class of the chips. It also did not say which Tier 1 supplier is building the power electronics around the devices.
The company described the parts only as SiC MOSFETs used in the electric powertrain.
