Electric trucks made up 50.3% of China heavy-truck sales in September, source says
A source-reported market review says electric trucks took a majority share of China’s heavy-truck sales in September, while diesel demand is expected to fall this year.
According to the source, electric trucks made up 50.3% of all heavy trucks sold in China in September. The source says that represented 33,100 electric big rigs in a single month, up 37% from a year earlier.
The overall heavy-truck market shrank by 21% in the same period, the source reports. It also says trucks running on batteries and natural gas are doing most of the work behind the decline in diesel use.
China’s diesel demand is on track to fall by about 230,000 barrels per day this year, according to the source.
